Welcome to Mrs. Pettinelli's Second Grade Class!

Welcome to Mrs. Pettinelli's second grade classroom! I am so excited to be your child’s teacher this year!  This is my tenth year of teaching!  This is my seventh year in Jordan, and before that, I worked at St. Anne's in Le Sueur. My husband, Steve, and I live in New Prague. Steve works at Burnsville Alternative High School as a Dean of Students. We have two boys.  Oliver is five, and is starting kindergarten in New Prague this year!  Sam just turned two in August, and is very busy and adventurous.  Our other "baby" is a black lab named Nikka.

I grew up in New Prague, and attended college at St. Scholastica in Duluth. Duluth is one of my favorite places; if it weren’t for the terrible winters and steep hills, I might like to live there!

I am thrilled to be teaching second grade! My favorite subject to teach is reading. It’s so exciting when students begin to make the connection between sounds and print! It is very gratifying to know that I can help make books come alive for students. Besides enjoying teaching reading, I love to read in my own free time. I will share with students my own love for reading, and I hope that it will be contagious!

I know this will be an exciting year for your child that will be filled with learning new things! I am thrilled to be a part of their experience here at Jordan Elementary!
